State Treasurer Larry Pack today announced more than $110,000 in unclaimed property funds have been returned to the City of Huntington, Berkeley County Commission, the Hampshire County Board of Education, and another county Board of Education.

“Whenever we can return such a large sum of money back to our communities, including city governments and county boards of education, it is a good day. We hope these dollars help serve the people of West Virginia,” Treasurer Pack said. “My Office continues to return money to rightful owners at the fastest pace in state history. We have more than $500 million that belongs to the people and businesses of the Mountain State, so I encourage everyone to check our online database to see if some of that money belongs to you or your family.”

The amounts for each unclaimed property check are as follows:

·      City of Huntington: $39,174.69

·      Berkeley County Commission: $37,000.35

·      Hampshire County Board of Education: $25,215.48

There was a separate county school board that received $9,145.77. The checks came from accounts payable, stale dated, and miscellaneous payments.

Treasurer Pack recently announced his Office’s Unclaimed Property Division returned more than $1.7 million to more than 5,300 individuals, businesses, and organizations during the month of May.

The Treasurer’s Office has more than $530 million worth of unclaimed property listings in its database.

Since the start of Fiscal Year 2026, which began on July 1, 2025, the Treasurer’s Office has returned nearly $36 million to rightful owners.
