Treasurer Pack Returns More Than $13,000 in Unclaimed Property Funds to Cabell County Commission

State Treasurer Larry Pack was in Huntington on Friday where he presented more than $13,000 in unclaimed property funds to the Cabell County Commission.

“Unclaimed property belongs back in the hands of the people and communities it was meant for,” Treasurer Pack said. “We’re glad to return more than $13,000 to the Cabell County Commission and help put those funds back to work locally. Our Office will continue to working on reuniting rightful owners with their money across West Virginia.”

Treasurer Pack presented $13,695.20 to the Cabell County Commission on Friday afternoon. The money came from stale dated checks and credit balances.

“Counties are struggling with loss of people and TIF districts have come off the books, so you’ve got to have that money to operate,” Cabell County Commissioner John Mandt, Jr. said. “We’re always looking at the jail bill and looking at expenses within the courthouse and things that we need to do like repair and fix. That will be helpful for that. I suggest everyone look into their businesses or their personal to see if they have unclaimed property they can file to get.”

In September, the Treasurer’s Office returned more than $2.4 million to individuals, businesses and organizations across West Virginia.

The State Treasurer’s Office has more than $530 million worth of listings in its database statewide. In Cabell County, there are currently more than 238,000 unclaimed property listings worth more than $34.1 million.

Since the start of Fiscal Year 2027, which began on July 1, 2026, the Treasurer’s Office has returned nearly $9.4 million to rightful owners.
