Treasurer Pack Returns More Than $48,000 in Unclaimed Property Funds to Webster County Sheriff’s Office

State Treasurer Larry Pack today presented more than $48,000 in unclaimed property funds to the Webster County Sheriff’s Office.

“Safer communities are crucial to attracting, retaining and helping families prosper. That means we need to support our law enforcement by finding additional funding by any means necessary,” Treasurer Pack said. “My Office continues to return money to rightful owners at the fastest pace in state history. We have more than $530 million that belongs to the people and businesses of the Mountain State, so I encourage everyone to check our online database to see if some of that money belongs to you or your family.”

The unclaimed property check was valued at $48,884.96 and came from stale dated checks and miscellaneous payments. Treasurer Pack delivered the check to Webster County Sheriff Rick Clayton at the Webster County Sheriff’s Office in Webster Springs on Thursday morning.

“With the deficits we face, $50,000 does help. It’s great that we were able to find that money and be able to use it to help our county,”  Sheriff Clayton said.

Treasurer Pack recently announced his Office’s Unclaimed Property Division returned more than $1.7 million to more than 5,300 individuals, businesses, and organizations during the month of May.

The Treasurer’s Office has more than $530 million worth of unclaimed property listings in its database. Webster County has nearly 13,500 listings valued at $1 million.

Since the start of Fiscal Year 2026, which began on July 1, 2025, the Treasurer’s Office has returned nearly $36 million to rightful owners.
