Treasurer Pack Returns More Than $53,000 in Unclaimed Property Funds to Wayne County Sheriff’s Office

State Treasurer Larry Pack today presented more than $53,000 in unclaimed property funds to the Wayne County Sherrif’s Office.

“Returning unclaimed property means putting money back where it belongs and helping our communities in the process,” Treasurer Pack said. “I’m glad our Unclaimed Property Division was able to return more than $53,000 to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, and I encourage everyone to see if they have unclaimed property waiting to be claimed.”

The unclaimed property check was valued at $53,544.71 and came from miscellaneous payments and stale dated checks. Treasurer Pack presented the check to Wayne County Sheriff Eddie Bradshaw during a presentation at the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Friday morning.

“I think it’s wonderful for our county. We’ve talked about certain things that we would like to provide for our citizens, and this is going to be the first step,” Sheriff Bradshaw said. “We’ve got a rural county, especially on the southern end of our county. We have no internet services, so I’m going to look at putting Starlinks on all our cruisers so that we’re when we’re on the southern end of the county we can stay there instead of having to drive 30-40 miles back to the courthouse to fill out a report. We’ll also purchase laptop computers for all patrol vehicles.”

The Treasurer’s Office currently holds more than 82,000 unclaimed property listings belonging to individuals, businesses, and organizations in Wayne County, with a combined value of $8 million.

Since the start of Fiscal Year 2026, which began on July 1, 2025, the Treasurer’s Office has returned nearly $36 million to rightful owners. The Treasurer’s Office has more than $530 million worth of unclaimed property listings in its database.
