Treasurer Pack Tours Shepherd University, Views Campus Upgrades and Improvements

State Treasurer Larry Pack toured Shepherd University during a visit to Shepherdstown on Tuesday, June 17 where he viewed campus improvements and received an update on several state-funded construction projects that are currently underway.

“It’s exciting to see how Shepherd University is working to bring a new student experience to their campus, as well as working on research innovation that will positively impact the state.” Treasurer Pack said. “Investing in higher education means investing in the future and our next generation of leaders here in the Mountain State. It’s an honor to join Shepherd University President Dr. Mary J.C. Hendrix and see all the upgrades that will greatly benefit Shepherd students and the local economy here in the Eastern Panhandle.”

Treasurer Pack joined Dr. Hendrix for a tour that started at the University’s Wellness Center. Treasurer Pack then viewed construction of the new Dining Hall and Multipurpose Building. The facility, which will bring the University’s main dining hall to the same side of campus as the residence halls and create needed space for athletics and conference venues, is being funded using part of $30 million provided by the state.

“Shepherd University is honored to host a visit from West Virginia Treasurer Larry Pack and his team," Dr. Hendrix said. “We are profoundly grateful to the State for their support of critically needed infrastructure and renovations, which enhances the student experience and increases enrollment opportunities here at Shepherd.”

Treasurer Pack also toured the Center of Excellence Photobiomodulation (PBM), also known as red light therapy, a treatment option for a variety of diseases and conditions including opioid addiction.

The tour concluded at the Agri-business Center at Shepherd’s Agricultural Innovation Center at Tabler Farm. The center supports numerous academic programs, including environmental science and business.
