State Treasurer Larry Pack was in Beckley on Thursday where he presented more than $2,000 in unclaimed property funds to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the West Virginia Treasury’s June online firearms auction.

“Keeping West Virginia safe requires investing in men and women who wear the badge. We should support our law enforcement agencies in any way we can,” Treasurer Pack said. “Online firearms auctions conducted through our office help clear crowded evidence rooms, reduce burdens on local agencies, and allows officers to focus their mission of protecting our communities. We remain committed to supporting our law enforcement agencies so they can strengthen the regions they serve.”

Treasurer Pack presented $2,006.24 to Raleigh County Sheriff Frank Priddy on Thursday morning. The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office sold 18 firearms during the June online firearms auction.

“This is fantastic because we hire new deputies, and we have to purchase firearms for them. Your budget only goes so far, and we were actually looking at purchasing new guns when we got this call. It works out great for us. We’re excited to have this,” Sheriff Priddy said.

Treasurer Pack recently announced the winning bid amount from the June online firearms auction was $60,492.00 placed from a federal firearm licensed dealer in West Virginia. There were 489 firearms sold from 18 law enforcement agencies across West Virginia that were up for bid. More than 15 bids were submitted from licensed dealers spanning across nine states.

In Fiscal Year 2026, which started on July 1, 2025 and ended on June 30, 2026, the Treasurer’s Office sold 2,028 firearms for a total of $296,097.23 from four online auctions. Winning bids came from federal licensed firearms dealers in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Georgia. Bids can be made only by Federal Firearms License Dealers.
