Special Topic Webinars:

Pathway to Employment and Greater Independence with Benefits Counseling & WVABLE

Employment is about more than earning a paycheck. A WVABLE account is more than just the ability to save above the $2,000 asset limit while maintaining benefits.  Employment and WVABLE provide a pathway to financial independence, community inclusion, and economic growth. Yet many individuals with disabilities hesitate to pursue employment and enrollment in WVABLE because they fear losing essential benefits or are unaware of opportunities to save for the future.

This interactive session will highlight how Benefits Counseling and WVABLE work together to remove barriers to employment and promote financial stability. Participants will learn how Social Security Work Incentives and WVABLE accounts complement one another, allowing individuals to work, save, and plan for the future while maintaining important public benefits.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain what Benefits Counseling is – including Social Security Work Incentives - and how it helps individuals to make informed decisions about employment and public benefits.
  • Describe the importance and advantages of WVABLE accounts in promoting employment, expanding savings opportunities, and fostering greater financial independence.
  • Identify ways Benefits Counseling and WVABLE complement each other to reduce barriers to work and optimize savings potential.
  • Identify next steps and resources for accessing WVABLE accounts and Benefits Counseling to make informed decisions about work and benefits.

TESTIMONIAL

Brent L. Van Deysen

Attorney at Law

"Excellent presentation!!! This may be the most valuable CLE I’ve seen in a long time. So much misinformation out there about these accounts. I’d like to receive any print materials or a copy of the slides so I can have them available to review with clients. I do a fair amount of Special Needs Trusts and this would be an excellent additional tool for someone I am working with right now."
